JP, I like your attitude and confidence but with our club I always look at the glass half empty. O'well we can sure hope. It sounds like MJR will be there in force.

I'm beginning to see what you mean but I hope we can turn this around a bit... it's all about attitude! HEY CLUB MEMBERS.... just show up regardless of having a working rig or not, take a pic as a group, show we have a group worth being trail adopters, jump in an open seat and have fun.... or just jump in your car and go back to sleep, either way let's just prove we have a group!

Sure would love to hear from other group members other than the 4 of us in this string right now...... come on guys let's make this happen! WEEEEEEE HOOOOOOO!!!!!! O|||||O

I don't think all the club members read the threads on our own forum :?

Several Adopting Clubs showed for the big along a bunch of Rangers and Sheriffs, We had to give Doug some help on a few hills since he showed up with only 2 wheel drive on his JK-Project. We all had fun running all the trails, we later did some additional cleanup and trimmed the overgrowth back on the reservoir side while getting to know the Toyota Land Cruiser Association L.A. Chapter Trail Crew who adopted the short but awesome Lookout trail. JP also made us some very cool flags with our club logo which we proudly flew on our rigs.

Nice pics Mark... I'm glad 5 members of our group showed up along with Rudy's wife and kids honoring the opening for him since he couldn't. Nice job everyone. I made enough flags for everyone in the group so you will get yours when I see you. They are a bit experimental at the moment but felt we needed a little unity and cohesion to show the Rangers so I took it upon myself to have them made, I'll make some changes at some point but for now they will work well. Seems our next outing is next weekend at Panamint Valley Days on November 13-15th. I will be there and I know others will too, so come on guys let's go have some fun HD4W style!

We are heading back out to Texas Canyon (where Rowher Trail is for those of you who don't know the area name) with the folks from MJR, I know I'll be there along with Dog Man...Join us! If not we will see you at Panamint Valley!!! O|||||O

Well well well fellow club members of mine.....

Any and all of you who had bets and side bets on when my rear axle would throw in the towel, you can go ahead and pony up or collect on the $$$$ you owe or are owed. As you all should know Dog Man and I got together Yesterday, Sunday after opening, with the MJR boys and ran Rowher along with the other one out there, I don't remember the name. We played hard on the rock pile at the plateau and defied gravity like usual, everything was great then on the way down Rower we played again on those 4 steep short climbs and once again showed gravity who was boss. Once at the bottom we lost a few but continued on to the "Other Trail".... got past the first 2 climbs then at the steep long one I was the 4th or 5th maybe to attempt it.... about 3/4 of the way up, I'm in 2nd gear 4 low 3/8 throttle and got to the crux of the climb where all of a sudden out of nowhere that distinctive LOUD ass "PING" is heard throughout the valleys.... yup, no more rear end! Well if you haven't been on that trail, it's a spine, very steep and it's up there.... let's do the math, jeep= over 4000 lbs, tires= 37", 1985 CJ-7 brakes= disc front and drum rear (not the greatest in the stopping department)..... my uphill progress seised immediately and became a decent with an incredible struggle to stop the movement and keep from getting sideways and rolling to the bottom of the canyon. I slid down about 100 feet where I hit on e of 2 boulders on the side of the trail, once I hit it with the driver rear the driver front came up teasing to let gravity take over to the bottom of the valley, it came back down to earth and settled. Then the recovery process began, also fun... So luckily I'm still here to talk about it and I thank all who were there to help...

I figured there couldn't be a better time to begin the 4 link D60 transformation.... so I did just that. Here are some pics of what I found.....

The LOUD ass PING was all the teeth getting sheared off of the passenger side drive shaft...

Image

Here are some deep grind marks and heat discoloration from where the axle housing was resting on the shafts themselves.... good times!! :o

Everything is out, let the welding begin....

Anybody need some over worked and tweaked and "exercised" parts... oh yeah I have a stock CJ gas tank too...

Image

I think I found out why my jeep started listing to the starboard side.... Yup, bent springs...

Image

Boy did we have some fun, I'm bummed to have had such a great experience with just one other member of our club...DOG MAN!!!! Thanks for all your recovery help my friend.

I am sad to report that more than likely I will not have my rig ready for this coming weekend at Panamint ValleyDays, maybe this time one of you guys will bring home the raffle winnings. I'll post more pics of the progress of my 4 link as they come as well as pics from yesterday, Sunday, when I see them on MJR

Peace out boys and girls.... :D

JP
