HD4W,
Our last Club run for September is the weekend of 26-27 September for Fun in the Desert hosted by the Victor Valley Four Wheelers and held at the famous Hammer trails in Johnson Valley OHV area. This is a family friendly weekend event complete with Saturday night dinner and raffle and it is less than two hours from the Antelope Valley.
There will be trails for every level of vehicle and driver experience. From an SUV type run to the extreme Hammer trails. There is also a "New" trail this year for moderately equipped jeeps with at least one locker.
There is unlimited room for camping on the lakebed and it is motorhome/trailer friendly.
I'll be heading out either Thursday evening or Friday morning to get a good camp spot for everyone. Everyone is welcome.
Hope to see you there!
Roll Call:
John Jim Doug Mark Guy Terry

Hey dude I think there are several different trails that will be run by our group. I'm running the new trail that they just open for this event, but they are only allowing 17 rigs and you had to be signed up real early. I think that Guy, Terry and maybe mark are trying to get on this run.And John, well, you know hes going for one of the hard ones. And some of the guys will just sign up for what they can.

JP,
IIRC, I signed up Saturday for:
1. Outer Limits 2. Sunbonnet 3. Jackhammer
I wanted to do a trail I've never done before and also not as popular so that is why I listed Outer Limits and Sunbonnet. Your rig is capable of these three and also any other on the list except for Wrecking Ball. Registration opens at 1700 on Friday and on-site registration is available.
According to their site, Sunday is also an organized run day but no pre-run sign-ups. They did not have any runs on Sunday last year.
Oh, please abide by their safety regs listed on the registration form. They had a thorough tech inspection last year...they jack up both of your axles and spin the tires to ensure you actually have lockers installed and working.
Hope to see you there!
Look for my truck and trailer on the west end of the lake bed:

OK, sounds good thanks for the info. I'll try and sign up now for the ones you mentioned, it's 3 runs in one day? Are the short ones? I'll be bringing my camper and trailering my rig as well the way you guys have seen in the past. Hold a good spot for me.... I really look forward to it. I got a terra low in now so watch out!!!

Is there some type of address to tell a navigation system so as to get there, or maybe the turn off from whichever road? Looks like I can't send anything in now as far as registration so I'm left with onsite registration on Friday at 5pm. I'm going to try and call or email someone about it to see if I can sneak in... if not Friday it is...

JP,
Sorry, I should have been more clear, only ONE trail on Saturday:
Official answer: For the Saturday of the event you list 3 choices and they (event) will assign you to only ONE of those based on when they received your registration and payment. You could end up of with any ONE of your choices. For you, when you register at the event on Friday, ask to sign up for Outer Limits and see what they say.
Unofficial answer: Sign-up, pay your fee, and accept whatever trail they assign you if your #1 choice is full, THEN on Saturday morning, line-up with whatever trail you WANT to run. As long as there are not 30 rigs in front of you it won't matter. Last year, they had sign posts staked on the lakebed with the trail names and everyone lined up behind their trail of choice. I'm not 100% positive, but I do not remember the trail leader checking names on any kind of list with who was actually in line. So as long as you arrive early to the departure line and are not a straggling behind, you should be ok to run whatever trail you want to.

The Hammers are located on Means Dry Lake at the Boone Rd turn-off of Highway 247 approx 25 miles east of Lucerne Valley. The lakebed is aprrox 4 miles in from pavement.
