Larry, try doing the SYE in the vehicle, this made it a much faster job for me. Great pictures from the Hammers JP and John, I had a great time and even had to do some trail repairs. The Clawhammer trail convinced me I need a solid locker in the rear and maybe some 35's too!
Mark, I'll have all 5 of my rims and tires to get rid of when I go ti the new rims and tires being that my bolt pattern will be changing, I'll give you a screaming deal on them if you are interested, they wheel great, I did slash one beyond repair but do have another 35 I can throw on the rim for you. They are black nascar look 5 on 5 1/2' and the tires have about 3/4 or maybe just under that for tread life. Let me know because I was going to post them on the web to get rid of but I'd rather they stay in the family.

what'd the axles come from, JP?
I found them on Pirate 4X4, this guy had them posted for a couple weeks I think and as I was going through the string of messages on his ad he had lots of people trying to buy specific parts out of the axles but he wanted to keep them together which I agree. It was a good thing because the set works great for me, he was getting rid of them because the slammed 500+ HP's in his rig and changed out to a 14 bolt rear and a Dana 60 front. The guy is out of Traverse City, MI. If all goes well I'll have the axles by mid week, rims on Tuesday.... I'm fired up about this upgrade.... Oh yeah, I'll be upgrading brakes and steering as well. WoooHooo!!!

Ummmmm, the actual link I got them from? I'd have to go back and try and find it. Once i found the axles I emailed him direct then we started talking via email and phone, You can find it under the topic of people selling things, I think it was a tab labelled Axles and tires or something like that...
Looks like it is a good setup. Looks pretty complete with gears and lockers. Should last you quite few years with quality shafts and joints.
The only concern I would have is if/when you ever decide to go to a front D60. Be advised there will be some machining, redrilling and parts swapping to convert a front D60 to 6-lug bolt pattern to match your rear axle.

Ooops sorry... I actually didn't want to search for it myself cuz I had no idea what page it was on...
Yeah it is a good set up, or the best I found I should say, matched gears lockers and all, the other one I came across was a 14 bolt rear and a 60 front but no lockers and wrong gears, way too much work to get going and the guy never responded to me so went with this one. With these at least I can slowly set up the rear link and find the right front to use then get into that. I know what you mean about the 6 lug but I figured it's a good happy medium right now with the new rims and all.
Hell yeah I'm ready!!!! Let's do it... well wait, not quite yet.

I would just swap them both in and run it until you start breaking parts repeatedly! The front D44 should survive if you respect the throttle. Do you know the spline count for the rear?

Yup that's my plan, I don't know the spline count. The guy was going to send me all the spare parts he had for those axles so hopefully he has some spares for me.
