Had a fantastic time in Johnson Valley. Mark easily drove his Jeep through stuff my jeep struggled with. There were lots of interesting breakdowns. One we had to leave on the trail (middle of Clawhammer). JP and I gathered a rescue party while the owner searched for a drive shaft and axle. We pulled him out in 2wd with straps. Pitman arm failed on the way out, but he had a spare. Got him back just in time for the raffle. Victor Valley had dinner waiting for us. Great hosts. I have pictures of Mark winching an LJ unlimited from Victor Valley back onto his wheels. I will try and post them.

Yeah Clawhammer is about the limit for my Jeep, you should have front and rear lockers for this trail not Limited Slip. Here's some photos Rudy took of me Winching the silver Jeep back on it's feet using a strap around a boulder and a snatch block while a Toyota held him from rolling backwards with another Winch Line.
Rudy's time lapse photography!

JP and I ran Outer Limits on Saturday. Had a great time. We both survived a little worse for wear but nothing major broke. I lost my ARB solenoid for my front locker. Luckily the guy in front of me had a spare. Swapped it out and was back in business minus a minor air leak. Of course I bent my tie rod again....I really need to do something different with my steering.
There were 7 HD4W members out at JV for the weekend. We had a blast camping together....JP had a heck of a fire going Saturday night and even tried one of his "stunt guy" fire lighting tricks! Can't wait until next year.
Didn't get too many as the trail was tough both on rigs and their hiking passengers. I'll try and upload some short vids from my new toy...a GoPro Hero Cam.

Hey all..
Yeah Outer Limits was as you all know I would say, AWESOME!!!! This trail was gnarly!! An absolute blast! We both made it through stelarly, bumping and grinding but no issues at all. for me the Tera Low kit was crucial, it made it not necessary to "lead foot" it out. Yes guys, young JP is growing into an adult. The only issue I had which happened literally 20' behind John was also a locker problem. My heart sunk when I lost my lockers both front and rear, it's a major must have lockers trail... loved it!!! My locker issue was the Oring that seals the reservoir herniated which created a leak strong enough not to hold enough pressure to lock the diffs. After checking the lines and chasing it back I removed the reservoir, reset the Oring and tightened the reservoir correctly and I was good to go. Can you believe that my front ring and pinion made it through without a problem, you would never believe it based on my last pics of internal carnage. I did endure some good body damage in the exact same area John did but based on the fact that I have no body armor, I came out looking much worse, oh well. Once getting back to camp Rudy and I went off for a rescue mission on Jack Hammer or was it Sledge.... anyway one of those, I slashed a sidewall out there which was no fun but as you all know part of the game. We went out there helped this guy put on a rear drive shaft then started to drag him out with rear wheel drive only, half way down we turned his pitman arm into a pretzel, can you believe he had a spare? After that fix we made it out in time for the raffle, thank god cuz I came away a winner like Mark did in Big Bear, I won 2 Allied Bead Locks, a couple $100 gift certificates, some kind of toyota adapter plate, a full set of rims that I didn't accept after having to do a cartwheel for them, so the next ticket chosen I made that guy do a cartwheel too... good fun for sure! Wish more of group was there.
My jeep came out smiling really hard, I just picked up a Dana 60 rear and a 44 front that I should have put in by our next event, I'll be rollin my new Bead locks wrapped in 37's so watch out!!! Here is some carnage....

Wow, you don't waste anytime. Any reason you didn't go to a D60 in front? If you stay at 37s and put in Chro-Moly axle shafts and CTM joints you should be good but I'd still rather have the D60 if you are going thru the trouble to do the swap.
Can't wait to see it on 37s and the new bling aluminum Allieds

Larry, try doing the SYE in the vehicle, this made it a much faster job for me. Great pictures from the Hammers JP and John, I had a great time and even had to do some trail repairs. The Clawhammer trail convinced me I need a solid locker in the rear and maybe some 35's too!

I completely agree with you John on the 60 front, but I found these axles as a set that came off of a cherokee in MI, The guy is just asking $1500 so I didn't want to pass it up, it's truly an easy swap and it's already geared correctly, 5.38's, with an air locker front. Being that the rear is a 60 I'm going to start setting up my link suspension, as far as the front I went with the 44 for now based on the status of my ring gear damage but my goal is certainly to go with a 60 front then I can do the link suspension up there too. So essentially the 44 front is so I don't have to put in a new gear set in my current axle to match the new 60 going in.
