Our 2006 Jeep Wrangler 4.0 just got a Bored & Ported 63MM Throttle Body from Xtremefi and wow it’s got power to spare, at least 15hp gain! The engine started right up and actually idles smoother! The first test drive revealed stronger acceleration throughout the RPM range, no more dead spots and no whistle. At 55 mph it appears to be idling with little to no throttle, a person might think the smog had been removed from the engine. We also noticed much better tire chirping throttle response, better low end & more HP up top. No modifications to the stock ECM, no trouble codes, no modifications to the intake. Best of all it only takes about half an hour to install and it adds about 175cfm over stock but, you will need to transfer the IAC, MAP, and TPS sensors to the new modified unit. Our Jeep has always run very rich so I expect it may now have a better mixture and maybe increased mileage judging by the way it idles along at 55. This is a great mod because no matter what you do with intake and exhaust mods your still squeezing through a 52MM hole at the stock throttle body. If your thinking about doing this mod make sure you get the correct type. There are two different throttle body designs used on the Wrangler TJ, XJ, & LJ, 1997-2004 used one type, Jeep slightly changed it for 2005-06 models. Shown below is the 2005-06 Bored & Ported Throttle Body from Xtremefi for $119 with sensors already swapped over.
